Cycling Spoken Here

North Carolina is a bicyclers dream come true. Although it hasn’t won the Most bicycle friendly state, it certainly is!

The triangle area aka Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill and there outlying suburbs have at least 12 shops a piece! However due to location I have chosen 1 shop in particular to be my home. Cycling Spoken Here is in a building I would consider to look more like a bank. It is new with glass windows around the front of the store. The shape of the building is a square wtih one side hole-punched off. Let me know If that makes sense. They host rides almost every night! Some sponsored by the store others by clubs they sponsor. Wednesday night is ladies night and I was in attendance.  Image

The ride was led by Joan a strong rider who knew her way around town! I had an idea of where we were at but for the most part I just followed and took in the sights. The group was the mid-level group. We did about 22 miles and were averaging about 16MPH. Everyone was very nice and the woman ranged from engineers to graphic designers.

After the ride Joan gave me more than a few good tips of advice on where to ride and what groups to join! She invited me to the Thursday night (tonight) ride which is sponsored by Cycling Spoken Here. I cannot wait!

P.S. One thing I did notice was that the hills in Iowa are much worse, or maybe it is the elevation but I felt that riding is much eaiser. What do you think? Maybe I am just that awesome!
